Flat Fees

Since all of our cases are taken on a flat fee basis, you can contact Mr. Thompson as often as you wish, with no additional billing.

This also applies if you have a parent (or you are the parent) that has questions they would prefer to ask directly. Mr. Thompson will make himself available to the people in your life that have questions about your case. If Mr. Thompson cannot take your call immediately, it is unusual to wait more than one business day for a return call.

Working with the University of Iowa

Many of our clients are students at the University of Iowa.  Our office has a good relationship with the Dean’s Office and can be your liason for communicating with them regarding possible school probation or suspension.

Instant, “Green” Communication

Currently, over 90% of our clients receive all of their legal correspondence by email.  We scan the entire court file, lawyer correspondence, police reports and any other documents directly to pdf files.  We send these to the client, the parents, and any other parties the client would authorize.  This saves paper, but it is also more convenient for everyone involved.  The communication is instantaneous, and nothing gets “lost in the mail.”  This keeps all parties in the loop.  Finally, many students rely on electronic communication on their laptop or cellular phone, more so than traditional paper correspondence.

Licensing Penalties with the Iowa Department of Transportation

Many charges, such as OWI / DUI (operating while intoxicated), possession of fictitious ID, possession of drugs, or misuse of ID may result in license penalties from Iowa’s licensing authority, the DOT.  We can make you aware of what to expect and how to best deal with the driving consequences of these types of crimes.
